I’ve been a #Trekkie since I was a kid growing up in the 70’s and I’ve watched everything in the #StarTrek universe of media. I wasn’t so hot on #Picard, but I definitely did NOT like #Discovery, and I have a feeling I won’t like #Section31, either. Some of the trailer looks great, but a lot doesn’t. The #GPD Win Max line of gaming-centric mini laptops is the most pure expression of the gaming laptop, period, and I have desired one since they were first announced. They are, however, premium devices, and now even more so with the 2025 edition Win Max 2 getting the Ryzen AI 9 HX370 “Strix Point” APU. I just find this odd and can’t quite figure out what #Antec is up to here. They’ve been making PC cases and parts for literal decades and now they’re rebranding #AYANEO gaming handhelds and selling them as their own? Could be they’re looking to make their own and seeing how the market will react or angling to acquire the smaller company for integration? I have The Witcher 2, but I haven’t played it much, and I’m not familiar with the allegedly wildly popular card game of #Gwent, but Hachette Board Games has announced a physical version of the game will be in stores in 2025. The #rumor mill is grinding away. With #Apple’s homemade 5G modem rumored to be on the way, possibly debuting in the rumored #iPhone SE4 suspected to drop early next year, rumors are now starting to drop that Apple is considering putting said modems into their MacBook line-up, as well. The Verge seems to think, based on the discovery of new “Powered by SteamOS” and “Steam Compatible” sticker visual format guides, that #Valve is preparing to start directly courting Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to build compatible hardware such as handhelds, set-top boxes, and VR sets that will or can run SteamOS. This move would be a direct challenge to #Microsoft, #Sony, and other makers who build Windows gaming systems. #videogames #tech games.slashdot.org/story/24/…

If you’re on the #Apple beta grind like a friend of mine, you’re likely already aware that the Release Candidates for pretty much all Apple software has dropped, most notably #macOS 15.2 and #iOS and #iPadOS 18.2. This happens soon before the final version is rolled out to all users. I was a fan of #Ubuntu for a very long time and essentially started using it with Hardy Heron in the mid-2000’s. They then introduced Snaps and ejected DEBs so ditched them for a range of distros until settling on Linux Mint, Fedora, and KDE Neon. Ubuntu has fallen far from their early highs by bringing focus and ease-of-use to #Linux, and Nick runs that down nicely. #YouTube #tech www.youtube.com/watch
