This is fantastic news! It appears that #Apple is finally starting to take gaming on #Mac seriously, at least in one small but significant genre; #JRPGs. On December 9th 2024 they’ll be dropping the Final Fantasy IV 3D remake and The After Years into Apple Arcade, followed on January 9th 2025 by the first Final Fantasy and Trials of Mana. #Apple has an issue with positioning itself for decades in the premium market, and while they do make excellent systems, they’re starting to pay the price. It shows in the fact that Apple has apparently loosened strictures on aggressive sale pricing from retailers (e.g., #Walmart’s $650 M1 MacBook Air, #Amazon’s regular steep price drops). OMG! This sucks!! #SEGA is delisting sixty of their classic games on #PC, #Steam, #Switch, #Playstation, and #XBOX on December 6th this year! If you own them, they’ll still work, and the games on Nintendo’s Switch Online service will remain. However, Sega Genesis Classics is leaving PS and Switch and twelve titles on XBOX and SIXTY TWO on Steam are getting axed, including Crazy Taxi and Altered Beast. If you haven’t already heard, #Nintendo has made an official announcement regarding the “successor to the #Switch”, and it’s a fruit of the low hanging variety. Switch games will be backwards compatible with the Switch 2, or whatever it ends up being called (New Switch? I’ve decided that I’m going to mostly excising #uspol from my online discourse. As a humanist who actually cares about other people and knows evil from good, I’m simply exhausted with it all, cannot and will not tolerate #TFG, and already have enough issues to deal with in daily life as it is.
