I’ve watched the vast majority of the fifty nine films on this list of the best anime films of all time according to /Film. How about you? I won’t bother critically analyzing the list. It seems accurate enough. #animation #anime #movies www.slashfilm.com/1202644/t…

I’ve been playing Marvel Rivals since it dropped and I’ve settled on Squirrel Girl as my main. I main Junkrat in Overwatch 2 and Demoman in Team Fortress 2, so I have something like 15 years of experience with arching projectiles. I get a lot of hate for my “spam” LOLZ. However, it’s the adorable Jeff the Land Shark that is getting the hate in NetEase’s new team shooter, and for good reason! #videogames #marvel #TF2 #OW2 kotaku.com/marvel-ri…

Stoner Cats is a hoot! This is clearly not getting anywhere near enough attention, probably because of the shady crypto NFT bullshit perpetrated by the producers. It’s now on YouTube, though, so no NFTs needed! If you love a good laugh and are into stoner humor, you need to watch this! And the cast is stacked to the gills! Jane Fonda! Chris Rock! Seth MacFarlane! And more! Crazy! So many exclamation points. #animation #humor #youtube #420 www.youtube.com/watch
If you’re familiar with the directorial oeuvre of noted #StarTrek alum Jonathan Frakes you might be shocked to discover, as I was, that he got himself put in movie jail for helming 2002’s ‘Thunderbirds’. Never heard of it? Yeah. And after directing the blockbuster ‘Star Trek: First Contact’ and the decently received ‘Star Trek: Insurrection’ and ‘Clockstoppers’, it’s surprising he popped out a dud. #scifi #movies …

Now Playing at Nothing Manor –> Perfect Storm’s Stairs (2024). From the opening track this Neo-Progressive rock band from The Netherlands wows with creative, accessible arrangements, excellent musicianship, and melodic lyricism from vocalists Adel Saflou and Hiske Oosterwijk, all driven by punchy metal guitar work, thumpy bass, expressive keyboards, and strong drum work. #music #progrock #rock www.progarchives.com/artist.as…

Aw, hell yeah! Just came across this in my recommendations and I’m going to support Stan and the his dream of making Orbital Search & Rescue a thing! Incidentally, I’ve also started watching Pantheon, which he worked on, and it’s fantastic and dark. It’s streaming on Netflix now. He also worked on Venture Bros., which is a blast!
Give OSR a watch and tell me you don’t think it looks cool and I’ll be sad. #animation #scifi #firstresponders #respect #youtube …

Heh. Fast Company interviewed #Apple executive Kate Bergeron and asked her about the modular storage in the new #M4 #MacMini. Here’s how she responded:
“The Mac Mini “is packed so tightly that actually, in the larger storage configurations, there’s not enough room on the main logic board to put the storage right onto the board.”
LOLZ. She must not have heard about the coming after-market SSD upgrades for the Mac Studio. #tech …

When I first saw the headline, I was confused about what #film they could be teasing (click-baiting?), but of course it’s 2002’s Equilibrium. I have this in my DVD library and have watched it at least a dozen times. It’s like a mashup of concepts from Fahrenheit 451, 1984, and Brave New World blended with a unique take on kung fu with guns. It’s well worth a watch, if you haven’t seen it already. #scifi #movies #gunkata www.slashfilm.com/1718512/c…

I’ve been a #Trekkie since I was a kid growing up in the 70’s and I’ve watched everything in the #StarTrek universe of media. I wasn’t so hot on #Picard, but I definitely did NOT like #Discovery, and I have a feeling I won’t like #Section31, either. Some of the trailer looks great, but a lot doesn’t. I guess we’ll just have to see when it drops on Paramount+ January 24th. Yes, direct-to-streaming. Feh. #scifi #movies www.youtube.com/watch
The #GPD Win Max line of gaming-centric mini laptops is the most pure expression of the gaming laptop, period, and I have desired one since they were first announced. They are, however, premium devices, and now even more so with the 2025 edition Win Max 2 getting the Ryzen AI 9 HX370 “Strix Point” APU. Just check the specs on this little beast you can still touch type on, and you’ll see why. #videogames #hardware liliputing.com/gpd-win-m…

I just find this odd and can’t quite figure out what #Antec is up to here. They’ve been making PC cases and parts for literal decades and now they’re rebranding #AYANEO gaming handhelds and selling them as their own? Could be they’re looking to make their own and seeing how the market will react or angling to acquire the smaller company for integration? It’ll be interesting to see where this goes. #videogames #tech liliputing.com/antec-exp…

The #rumor mill is grinding away. With #Apple’s homemade 5G modem rumored to be on the way, possibly debuting in the rumored #iPhone SE4 suspected to drop early next year, rumors are now starting to drop that Apple is considering putting said modems into their MacBook line-up, as well. The Verge seems to think, based on the discovery of new “Powered by SteamOS” and “Steam Compatible” sticker visual format guides, that #Valve is preparing to start directly courting Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to build compatible hardware such as handhelds, set-top boxes, and VR sets that will or can run SteamOS. This move would be a direct challenge to #Microsoft, #Sony, and other makers who build Windows gaming systems. #videogames #tech …

If you’re on the #Apple beta grind like a friend of mine, you’re likely already aware that the Release Candidates for pretty much all Apple software has dropped, most notably #macOS 15.2 and #iOS and #iPadOS 18.2. This happens soon before the final version is rolled out to all users. Fortunately, this round of betas has been mostly stable, but there are still issues so don’t install on a production device. #tech #betas appleinsider.com/articles/…
Linux
technology
I was a fan of #Ubuntu for a very long time and essentially started using it with Hardy Heron in the mid-2000’s. They then introduced Snaps and ejected DEBs so ditched them for a range of distros until settling on Linux Mint, Fedora, and KDE Neon. Ubuntu has fallen far from their early highs by bringing focus and ease-of-use to #Linux, and Nick runs that down nicely. #YouTube #tech www.youtube.com/watch

Wow! I’m short on words, but I’m simply blown away by designer Kevin Noki’s functional recreation of Harmut Esslinger’s #Apple Flatmac design, a prototype developed by Esslinger’s Frog Design, the firm that handled Apple’s iconic industrial design language. 🚨 NERD ALERT 🚨 Hey all my retro #Apple peeps who are re-capping old #Macintosh machines! So, in case you were under any illusions that #Microsoft might not force countless millions of people to buy new PCs and move to #Windows 11, they blogged that this is non-negotiable.
