There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." - Isaac Asimov (1980)

@nsmug All while crapitalism has been actively forging an environment where people are valued increasingly less, prices are rising, homes are unattainable or unsustainable for most, jobs are scarce, education is both more expensive and less valuable, people are being retrained by a hostile, predatory corporate internet, our political environment is steadily ramping up the fascism, and so, so much more. Society has been fattened up for the kill and while some of us protest these crimes, it isn’t in large enough sustained numbers and the 1% simply doesn’t care any more. The veneer has almost come completely unglued. Occupy Wallstreet needs to be revived in numbers far outstripping the movement from the 2000’s.
