#NowPlaying @ Nothing Manor: Joe Jackson - Night and Day Deluxe Edition (1982). Got this when I was 14 and played it for weeks. Such an amazing piece of #ProgressivePop. A true masterwork of musical genius. #music #pop youtu.be/BT5a4Uf4G…

#TheVerge has a helpful guide on how to delete your #Facebook account, which seems more likely now that you can count on it even less for accurate information about #politics and #news. I guess now all we can count on is that it will be a haven for #disinformation. #capitalism www.theverge.com/22231495/…

#NowPlaying @ Nothing Manor: The Cure - The Head on The Door (Remastered Bonus Version)(1986). This was one of the cassettes the print wore off from flipping it in my Walkman. Fantastic listen Side A > Side B. #music youtu.be/OX0Dg7jJ9…

#NowPlaying @ Nothing Manor: Sean Wayland - Face to Face (2024). Sean has played with Allan Holdsworth, Wayne Krantz, Tim Miller, Frank Gambale, and Chad Wackerman. Solid album with Dark Skies being my favorite track so far. #music #jazzfusion #vocaljazz seanwayland.bandcamp.com/album/fac…

#NowPlaying @ Nothing Manor: Janek Gwizdala - Mystery To Me (20th Anniversary Edition)(2024). This just popped up in my #AppleMusic recommendations, and it’s quite the banger. Note the linked OG release has a different track order. #jazzfusion #music youtu.be/6SLLdvRTM…

#NowPlaying @ Nothing Manor: Thomas Dolby - Retrospectacle (1994). One of the few “Best of” albums I actually listen to. It’s not only a fantastic listen, but a meaty sampler of a good chunk of his body of work. #music youtu.be/6gQFbiItw…

All this hand-wringing over the #Nintendo #Switch2 leaks is needlessly shrill, and now #Kotaku’s John Walker is suggesting Mario’s Dad won’t have anything new to add when it does announce the new console? How silly. Aside from the look, everything else is speculation. #videogames kotaku.com/switch-2-…
What a lovely story! She saw the #Mazda RX-7 FD 25 years ago on the #anime street racing series “Initial D” and was smitten, so she bought one. You’ll need to read for the rest, and it will make you smile. #cars #feelgood www.autoblog.com/news/japa…

#NowPlaying @ Nothing Manor: Nik Kershaw - You’ve Got to Laugh (2006). A darling of the UK’s #NewWave and #Synth #Pop genres, Nik took five years to roll out this personal, more #PowerPop oriented and personal album. Riddled with his excellent guitar work, as well. #music www.youtube.com/watch

#NowPlaying @ Nothing Manor: Level 42 - 1980-2010 30th Anniversary World Tour (2010). I’ve said it before, but Mark King is a beast on the bass and the band is tight AF. Just a fantastic show. #music www.youtube.com/watch

It’s a toaster… for your iPhone 14/15/16… and it only costs $570, but only if you buy the bundle of the “toaster” and one case. Though it doesn’t charge your phone, it just swaps in a fresh battery. Baby steps on the way to robot domination. Whee… #WeirdCES #CES2025 #tech www.macworld.com/article/2…

Yes, this is weird… but also compelling. We’re a cat family and our Russian Blue generates a LOT of detritus. We love him, but it would be nice if we could reduce it. I’m just worried this thing costs more than a few hundred. #WeirdCES #CES2025 #tech #cats www.theverge.com/2025/1/7/…

While I can’t speak to other motivations, it’s clear that #WallStreet didn’t need to be pressured by #MAGA #Republicans to leave the #NetZeroBankingAlliance. It’s just a convenient excuse. This is how #Capitalism works. Not for you, but for money and power. #uspol #finance www.salon.com/2025/01/0…

I don’t know if this is a legitimate technology or what someone might use this for, but it looks unquestionably weird. A pal described it as the inside of Dr. Doom’s mask, and I won’t argue. Also, he’s a comic book villain. #WeirdCES #CES2025 #tech #healthcare www.theverge.com/2025/1/7/…

#NowPlaying @ Nothing Manor: Soul Coughing - El Oso (1998). I was rollin' to Soul Coughing long before I knew about Mike Doughty, his story, and his success at clawing his life and art back. I’m only playing this now because he’s reconciled with his former bandmates. #music www.youtube.com/watch

It is no longer a rumor. The #Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 is real, will cost $3500, and I hate it. I also hate the fact that it has been proven true that Lenovo has dropped the legendary #TrackPoint input device. Maybe hate is too strong a word. Let’s go with “I’m done with Lenovo”. #WeirdCES #CES2025 #Tech www.theverge.com/2025/1/7/…

#NowPlaying @ Nothing Manor: Jason Falkner - Can You Still Feel (1999). Falkner is IMO a brilliant multi-instrumentalist and #PowerPop #ProgressivePop #Rock master craftsman I first discovered on The Grays one and only album. He was Beck’s guitarist, as well. #music www.youtube.com/watch
#Fire has broken out in Eaton Canyon in #Altadena, just North of #Pasadena, my home town. It is in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains and is a hot spot for the Santa Ana winds. Structures are burning and people are being evacuated. Stay safe. Get out if you can. If not, call for help.

Likely in response to the very popular #IntelARC #B580 video cards being priced at $250, #Nvidia has announced the first four #RTX5000 cards, including the #RTX5070 priced at $550. Nvidia even claims that it’s as powerful as the previous #RTX4090. Highly unlikely. #CES2025 #tech www.theverge.com/2025/1/6/…

I don’t really care if #Honda is involved. I don’t want a #Sony #Playstation on wheels. Especially not for $90k for a “base” model. #WeirdCES #CES2025 #tech #cars www.theverge.com/2025/1/6/…
I can’t say I’m surprised. The #manual had the option for the 3.0L inline six-pot while the 2.0L only came with the automatic. That, and I doubt a lot of #Supra buyers wanted that weird #BMW shifter nub in the middle of their center console. #cars www.autoblog.com/news/toyo…

Well, well, well! The wife and I loved #Grimm when it was on #TV, and now it looks like they might be making a reboot movie for #NBC’s #Peacock streamer. It would be very nice if David Giuntoli and Russel Hornsby were brought on. #fantasy www.theverge.com/2025/1/6/…
